Lost Admins Icons and Buttons after admin_log table reset

All:

I have been running my zencart for over a year with very few issues. Recently I got the notification from the cart that i need to run the purge on the admin activity table. I ran the purge and it seemed to work ok but when I went back into the admin backend all of the icons and cart logo are gone. The admin console still works but I would like to recover the icons.

Does anyone have any idea as to how running that purge would cause the icons to not show up?

No, because the activity log has nothing to do with icons. They're entirely different and unrelated things.

Kinda figured that. Any idea as to why icon would not be available? I have checked the admin/images dir and the admin/images/icons dir, all are present and accounted for.

All of the functions work, just that the buttons and icons as missing.

As with any "broken image", the URL is probably wrong, and you can confirm that by right-clicking on the missing-image-placeholder and choosing "Open image in new tab", and then inspect the URL for accuracy. Then fix whatever is wrong.
Similar can be done by right-clicking the page and choosing View Page Source and looking at the IMG SRC= value for that image.

I am getting a 403 forbidden error when I true to bring up the image by its URL. Just as a test I change the permissions to 777 - but I am still getting the 403 error

A permissions error displayed by a web browser has nothing to do with the file-system permissions. Instead it is driven by Apache security rules, such as are enforced via .htaccess files.
The .htaccess files that come with Zen Cart will specifically allow images and icons where they ought to be.
But if you've been altering those files, or have added your own, then your changes need to be reviewed.

I got it back. There was a rewrite rule in my .htaccess that was causing the problem.
