    Default Adding stuff.

I'd like to add some stuff along the sides of the main page. Like some audio and video samples and some sample book pages. In the blank area on each side of the Zen Cart. How would I do that? I know how to add code for the audio and video and other stuff, I can work that all out. But I'm wondering what page I add the codeto so the stuff would appear in that area. I can then add styles to the stylesheet to move it around where I want.

How much "blank area" do you have on each side of your store page? How much do you have if you use a larger or smaller monitor? How big is your monitor? It is risky to expect users to all see the same thing you see.

Kobra's suggestion of using customized sideboxes within your page template is safer, but will not do exactly what you are asking for What you want may not be a good thing to do, though:). Seeing your current site layout will make this clearer.

If it is strictly decorative or "extra" content, you can proceed without concern over whether all users can see it.

Yeah, I know a little about html and styling. If I style the stuff with a % instead of pixels it should adjust for all screens. For example, a picture with width 5% should show up as 5% of the total screen width no matter what size monitor I have. But when I do add the extras I'll check in different browsers and different size monitors to make sure. But I've just done simple html and styling for a page I designed. I know how to do it, but I'm not sure where to find the page to enter the html. I was thinking about putting some samples of some products. Like audio, video and book samples which I can do easily. It's like I said though, before I designed the page and then added style. But here I'm not even sure where to enter my html code so the stuff will appear on the sides of the cart. I added an image of what my site looks like. While I was doing that I realized where I added the code for the site badge in the upper left corner, that's probably where I'd go.Name: zencartpageview.jpg

The sides are constructed of side boxes
I posted where you can get additional "blank" side boxes

Okay, I'll use those blank side boxes, but actually I was speaking about the blue area on the sides as in the picture above. I might have figured it out, I'll check it out.

Apparently there is more than one definition for "Stuff"

The "Stuff" we finally figured out you were referring to is the background for the site and controlled in the stylesheet.
    A little help with colors.

Content you want to appear outside the borders of the page, for all pages, should be added to /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_main_page.php (copy it from /template_default/common/). You would probably add it after the opening <body...> tag and before the mainWrapper div.

If you just want some images that will not change for the outer edges, making background images controlled by the stylesheet would be the easiest and best way to go.

If as appears you are using the Classic template, your first act should be to create or install a custom template and modify from there. See the customizing tutorials in the FAQ button at the top of this page. The classic template should stay as is to serve as a debug tool if you ever need to figure out some layout or function issue.
