Do I need to have an actual store? or just buy now buttons?

I am just selling ebooks and just want to use buy now buttons and have digital downloads, also offer coupons...is this possible without having actual store, or can I just have add to cart buttons, then a view cart and check out page...I want to use my own pages, I have tried reading through the tutorials, but I am just getting more and more confused, and the admin panel is very intimidating...if someone could just walk me through doing one, I could do the rest on my own..help please !! thanks !

Zencart isn't meant to be a back-end shopping cart script for your existing site. It needs to be your whole site to take advantage of its features. I don't know what you mean by 'walk me through doing one'.

when I read through the documentation before downloading and installing, it said I could use my own pages, have digital downloads, I don't want the store to be my whole site, because my whole site is not about selling these three ebooks...isn't there a way to place an add to cart button on my own products page and then just have the check out and view cart pages? because that is what I got from the docs that I could...and obviously walking me through one, is just that, walking me through adding an add to cart button on my product page

What is your existing site based on/written in? Some other formats such as WordPress use very simple yet flimsy, shall we say, shopping carts. Whereas ZC is a dedicated cart that you can then build/replicate/copy your existing content into, you would then dump your original site in place of your carbon copy new site that you have replicated using ZC.

As an after thought/query, you have been a ZC user for approaching 3 years but don't know how it works? Not having a dig, just confused/curious

that's just it, I don't want to replicate it within zencart, I am using a fluid layout and spent entirely too much time making sure that my site looks right in all browsers and screen resolutions, not about to go tinkering with that now...I have a products page and I am only going to be selling 3 different ebooks as digital downloads, that's why I just want a simple add to cart button for each item and when I downloaded this it said I could use my own pages, but if that means I have to convert them into the zencart, well then I guess I will have to find another shopping cart system. the page I want to put the buttons on is tradingbetweenthelines.com/products.php
