Error Error: Category has Products! ...but there is no products!!

Hello Everyone,

I've got a sub-category (Quality Printing:Business Card Printing) that has 5 products in it, I've moved these 5 products out of the category so that I can add new sub categories. When I try to move the new categories into this sub-category I get the error "Error Error: Category has Products! While this can be done temporarily to build your Categories ... Categories hold either Products or Categories but never both!" The category has no products in it.

Has anyone bumped into this issue? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Are you able to see the category_status in the database under categories? If it's a 1, then something is being connected with that category.

Sure there's not a linked file somewhere?

The category_status is 1 in the database. There shouldn't be any linked products, there's no yellow icon showing beside the category status and in the category no products are showing...but if that's the cause I'll take a look and see what I can find.

If there was a linked product wouldn't it show in the admin / category?

Only did a quick cursory look to see what we had on one site. Backup the database before doing any "messing around."

Simplest would be to delete the cat and recreate it but, you need to make sure you have the backup. Just sayin'

Yes I was thinking that as well, but that category has been up for several years and is ranking fairly well on Google for a few keywords...I guess I can just do a 301 redirect and hope for the best.

I'm just not convinced the 301 is a good idea if you are trying to cancel the appearance of duplicity.

Just give the SEs the actual new code. They all look for it to beat each other to the punch. To an SE, new is good.

It's still an annoying category/product glitch .... I shouldn't really have to create a new category!!

Remember that everything in the great internet is either on or off, zeros or ones. Sometimes, you turn on the light and it just doesn't work.
