Help with Mega Menu css customization

Have been trying to change the look and layout of the Mega Menu to have "Categories" drop down show first level only with multiple columns within it instead of flyout or level 2,3,4 etc show up. I understand how to "display none" to stop the additional levels from show and have managed to change from single column list style to multiple column list style by changing the width of the first level display. I have been reading and studying several write ups on the subject, but just can't seem to get my head around making the changes with the menu included with the template.

and it appears to be explained in depth...the problem is it isn't written or formatted to where I can understand how to merge with stylesheet_mega_menu.css included with the template.


can anyone help an idiot with what to look for? It would be greatly appreciated.

Don't feel bad... the mega menu has an extremely complex set of styling selectors and rules. I'm not sure how much of the complexity is necessary and how much comes from adding layers of structure and styling piecemeal, following the original source's construction method.

The tutorial you reference indicates, as I suspected, that it can be done with a lot fewer levels of elements than the menu at hand has. I'm afraid I don't have the time or concentration right now to unravel it; the structures of the tutorial menu and the current menu are different enough that I don't think the styling will be directly transferable.
