Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

The coupon either went to inactive or was active then deleted (which stays in the inactive file) but then I cannot re-activate it nor can I make a duplicate (because there is already this one stupid inactive coupon code)

Suggestion and fix needed ASAP because the code is out there LIVE as a radio commercial. Had no idea that the coupon was deleted (but it really just turned it inactive) and unable to make a new identical one.

HELP!

Re: Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

Go to your Zen Cart Admin and find the Discount Coupon that you want to reactivate ...

click on it and in the URL you will see the coupon_id as the cID ... so if you see cID=53 write that down ...

Go to phpMyAdmin ...

Find your database and browse the table:
coupons

Find your
coupon_id

for your matching coupon_id that is the same as you saw on the cID=53 or whatever number you saw and wrote down from your Admin ...

Edit that record, in phpMyAdmin and change the field:
coupon_active

from N to Y ...

Now, go back to your Zen Cart Admin and go to the Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Coupon Admin ... and locate your Discount Coupon ...

1 it should now be active

2 you should edit it and check the settings for the Uses per Coupon

3 you should edit it and check the settings for the Uses per Customer

4 you should edit it and check the settings for the Start Date and End Date

See if that gets you back on track ...

Re: Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

Seriously?
All that?

I don't handle the php portion so I have to ask someone else to go into the data_base to find/change that :( - that will take about 2 weeks (ad will have run/done)

Why is it that it can't be really DELETED when you delete an active one - and/or - just made active when you change to a current date? THAT seems user friendly. This seems....well....annoying.

You were very kind and helpful to answer the question, but this is just a little too much work for something that should be fixed with the calendar dates on the coupon. I'm pretty bummed.

You don't have Control Panel access to your site ?

If I do, I don't know what I'm looking at. I access what I call the "Admin Home" page...but have not seen anything that is labeled "Control Panel" or "phpMyAdmin". Perhaps navigation is more my issue. If you could please help direct maybe I COULD do this myself. :)

Please forgive my newness and ignorance. I am the forefront promoter for my business, not the tech person (and obviously not technically inclined).

Everyone on the forum is very helpful, but it may help if I identify myself as stunted (to say the least).
Thanks!

Re: Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

The Control Panel on your website (nothing to do with Zencart), would most likely be accessed by going to millersgrainhouse.com/cpanel. If you don't have the user name and password to log in there, you really need to get those credentials before you can effectively administer the site. If you do have them, Ajeh's instructions, taken step-by-step, will fix your problem. phpMyAdmin is a program that allows you to fiddle with your database(s) and is found in the Databases group in CPanel. Give it a try and let us know if you can't figure out one of the steps.

Re: Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

stevesh is correct, you will want to straighten things out to get full control of your site ...

In the meanwhile ...

When in the Zen Cart Admin ... if you go to the Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Coupon Admin ... and click on the Inactive Discount Coupon that you want to fix, in the URL, what is the cid= XXX for the Discount Coupon that needs to be fixed ...

I tried this and it disconnected my database. I located the coupon I wanted to reactivate, changed it from N to Y and now I can't get to my admin area.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Inactive Coupon Blocks New One! PLEASE HELP

Do you see any debug logs in your /logs directory? (this is /cache in older versions of Zen Cart)
