Default BMZ Cache and optimizing images

I'm attempting to optimize the images on my site to improve page load speed.

When I run it through Google's page speed insights program, it gives me a list of images that can be compressed. Several of these are BMZ cache images.

Should I optimize these images? Or will they eventually be replaced by their originals? If so, how do I indentify the original image (since the BMZ Cache file name doesn't seem to bear much resemblance to the original).

    Thanks,

    John

The bmz_cache folder is only in play if you have installed Image Handler. There is a specific version of IH for 1.3.9.

It's sole purpose is to make little images from large. If you have installed the correct version properly, you can pretty much ignore what Google is telling you.

Of course, if your original image is a 12 meg file, it's still going to be large in IH.

Good practice is to plan ahead and decide a general image size for product/category images. Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
    A little help with colors.
