Default Product names in Cart not linking back to product when attributes have been added

As the title. I've noticed that the address when you hover over the link in the cart back to a product that has attributes, has a range of letters and numbers added at the end. This is causing a visitor to be sent to the home page rather than back to the product.

    Still using 1.3.8a!

Any suggestions on this one? Thanks.

Check the Similar Threads below, especially the first one. As always, a link to your site will help us help you.

And do yourself a huge favor and upgrade to the current Zencart version as soon as possible.

Apologies, I did a search but didn't even notice the suggested threads below.
    Site is www.soccergiftshop.co.uk
Now off to read those threads.

Edit: With regards to the upgrading, it's something that is beyond my capabilities and the site never gives any problems. It's even just been moved to a new server with the latest php version and just needed a minor change to 3 lines of code. If it ain't broke . . . !!

It is broke, and if you're hacked, which is entirely possible with the version you're using, you'll end up spending a lot more time and effort cleaning things up than you'll spend upgrading. Look at the upgrading FAQs - you'll most likely find that it probably isn't beyond your capabilities if you take your time and follow the steps described. You owe your customers a secure cart.

Looking at your site, you are using a URL rewriter, which may be causing the problem according to the first Similar Thread. Try turning it off and see if the issue continues.

I'll agree that one mod needs attention (which is why I'm here) but what are the security issues with that version as long as all the suggested security updates have been done?

Just did a quick check and it is indeed a problem with the SEO urls.
