Automatically set cross-sale/sell items, possible?

Hey All,

First off thank you to everyone for your help so far, the forum has been extremely helpful with questions I have for building my website.

I've been trying to figure out a way to cross-sale on my site more effectively. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way (or a mod) whereby I can automatically set the "suggested products" to ALWAYS display the same products, no matter which page the customer is on... such as product page, main page, shopping cart, check out, etc etc etc.

I know I can link products together, but the problem is my store has close to 10,000 products, so individually linking each product to other products is not feasible in the slightest... also there are a few products which almost every customer should think about purchasing every time they visit my site, but I do not know how to "suggest" those items to the customer.

As it stands, I am getting some individual sales, but almost zero cross selling.

Anyone know of a way to set the "suggested product" feed to ALWAYS display the same 3 or 6 products on all pages?

The cross sell mods from the add-ons area will allow you to specify suggested products.

Thanks for the reply, but not quite what I was asking for. I know the cross-sell addons will allow you to specify which products should be linked through cross-selling. However, what I am asking is: Is there any way to create a list of 5 or 6 items that ALWAYS appear no matter which item page you're on, for cross-selling?

Edit - I have a database of over 8000 products, so individually linking all 8000 products to 5 or 6 products for cross-selling would be unreasonable.

There is builtin a "Customers who bought this product also purchased..." where this text could be altered to state something like
"You may also be interested in..."

or use a customised "featured" center box
This way you can easily specify the items to show.
You can copy the display code for this to the "other" pages that you want this to show on.
