Default 1 purchased item = 6 items for shipping purposes

    Hello,

I am trying to use tables for postage based by per item. However, I have some items that have say 6 actual boxes (items) within the quantity of 1 as purchased. Is there any way I can tell the cart that that particular item has 6 boxes, but that information be in the background so the customer cannot see this?

I was looking at the product quantity units, but this simply makes the customer buy 6 items. Can I use this, but supress it from the customer screen.

    Thanks, Phil.

Without knowing what you sell - - try adding a weight of 1lb to most items but a weight of 6lbs for the ones that have 6 items in them

Then use table rate based on weight

    Hello,

Sorry, yes knowing what we do would help. We sell windows and doors and other joinery items. site is www.roncurry.co.uk I cannot solve this with a weight based system as unglazed items will be transported by weight on a parcel courier, but when we get to glazed items, they need to go on a different courier who is item based. I did consider just using a high weight for the glazed items, but then when you combine the items through the checkout it would not work out a combined rate successfully.

Eg a glazed window, say set at 200lbs would be say £65 to send, then 2 of these windows totalling 400lbs, would be £75 to send. However, when you combined an unglazed window at say 25lbs with the glazed window at 200lbs, this would also be £75 to send. Then if you combine 2 unglazed windows with a glazed this would be £85, but the total weight would only be 250lbs.

Can you think of any other ways?
