Product description not saving?

I'm using zen cart 1.39 h.
I've had the store open for 2 years.
But I have a new problem.
I added a new product with a product description. Then I click preview, and the product description is there.
Then I click update, and it updates(saves). But the product description disappears.

Everything looks and acts normal. Except the product description does not save.

I read all the similar threads. They do not seem to fit my situation.

My host/server is using php 5.4

I did go back to the original 1.39h zen cart version, and did a fresh upload of all the admin/includes files.
But the problem still exists.

As noted I do have the original 1.39h version, and I also have my site back up's many, many times.
So I can go back and replace files.
I just need to figure out which ones, I guess.

Ok, so I uploaded new complete files from the original zencart 1.39h.
I uploaded and replaced =
includes files
editors files
admin/includes files

But so far, the product description still disappears.

Hi, your not the only one. Last week the webhost moved my site (1.3.9h) also to a different newer server. PHP 5.4.14 and MySQL 5.5.28 and I can type the text in the product description. If it is not to many text it will sometimes be shown in the webshop. However long text is not excepted and when I open any other product in admin to change any of the parameters e.g. price or number of items in store, the description is fully deleted from the database. I tried almost everything but I narrowed it down between the editor and the database. But that is about it....I now change a lot via MyPHP in the database there is just no other way at the moment...

Reminder: Zen Cart v1.3.9 was written LONG BEFORE php 5.4 was even a thought.

Modern versions of Zen Cart are far more compatible with modern versions of PHP.

You should be planning an upgrade.

I have experienced a similar if not the exact same problem with ZenCart 1.3.9h and my web host also recently upgraded PHP to v 5.4. and the problem seemed to get worse. Now it's effecting every product description. Looks like I have little option but to upgrade ZenCart. I hope that is the solution.

That is the correct solution for the long run, although your host may permit downgrading the php version temporarily. Would have to ask your host though. Good luck.
