People getting sign-up emails who never signed up

I have now received 2 complaints from people who have received registration emails from my site, but they never signed up. What gives?

Are these customers actually signed up in your admin?
If so, are their details correct or is it ONLY the email addresses that are correct?

I have User Tracking installed and this enables me to check what was happening when "they" signed up.
Also allows you to check the IP addresses used for those signups
It might help you track down and clarify the issues.
