Issue with checking out

Hello,

My customer reported to me that some people are having trouble checking out with her store www.theribbondiva.com. It doesn't happen all the time, but some people get directed to a black page with "jumbled words" on the screen. Her customer also sent her the following message: "The message I received when I went thru the cc process stated that your server had "gone away"." When she hit the back button, the order went thru, and it actually went thru twice (could have gone thru when she received the "gone away" message.)

When my client tried to update a product, she received this error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away.

My customer is also not receiving all the emails when people place orders. Has anyone heard of an error like this before? I tried searching online but haven't come up with anything. I'm new to zencart and don't know it as well as the other ecommerce software my company uses. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

If you actually meant your client is using Zencart version 1.3.6, that's the problem. As DrByte said in a thread about the 2006 error:

"Simple: You're using an old version of Zen Cart which sometimes encounters database disconnections and has no recovery code built-in. Upgrading to the latest version would be a good starting point."

For that and security reasons, the client needs to upgrade ASAP. If she's using Paypal Standard, a switch to Express should solve the email issiue.

Thanks for the reply stevesh. We took this site over from another company, and when I realized the version was from 2006, I immediately told my customer she needed up upgrade. Thanks again!
