"Contact Us For Availability" Option

It's not clear exactly what you want to do, but would changing the 'Sold Out' image/text to 'Contact Us For Availability' do the job ?

As an aside, I was visiting another gun-related retailer yesterday, and every single product I looked at was out of stock. You're right that the industry will take years to recover, but the real point, I think, is that this situatiion has also been ongoing for several years. Any other industry, when faced with overwhelming demand, would increase production.

Pretty much all gun related items I want the Contact Us For Availability. I also have archery products as well and most of those things are fairly easy to get a hold of.

You could also use the "call for price" feature (configurable per product) and change the image / text to say "Contact for availability"... Although this also removes the ability of a customer to add the product to the order...
