    Default Different colour for categories?

    Using zencart 1.3.9h

    Hi,

Is there a way to change the link colours on my main categories list (or even better to create separate categories)?

Currently my categories looks something like this:

    Jewellery ALL
    Earring
    Necklaces
    Keyrings
    Magazines ALL
    Black Velvet
    Alt Fashion
    Accessories ALL
    Tint Bowls
    Gloves
    Brushes

To make it easier to see I would prefer to have it like this:
    Jewellery ALL
    Earring
    Necklaces
    Keyrings

    Magazines ALL
    Black Velvet
    Alt Fashion

    Accessories ALL
    Tint Bowls
    Gloves
    Brushes

(not these colours - they were just used to show the style I want).

I have searched on here and can see how to alternate link colours i.e. even one colour and odd another, but cannot for the life of me find out how to make only the 'header categories' have a certain colour, different from all other links/subcategories.

If it is possible I would like a blank line between the header categories, again so that they are easier to read/find.

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

You can use your stylesheet to give different styling to top and subcategories. The exact rules will depend on your template or mods installed, so we need to see it live to give accurate advice.

hi, thanks for the quick reply :)

    The site is beeunique.co.uk
Am sure you will look at the stylesheet, breath in deeply and shake your head as the last time I gave the link on here for something else it was pointed out my stylesheet is in a bit of a mess (initially set-up by my ex). I am looking to employ someone to sort this for me so hopefully will be sorted out once I find someone I can trust with it, but if you can still advise me on the separate top & subcategories colours I would appreciate it. I will be keeping the subcategories the same colour as they are now and only changing the top/main headers if that helps matters.

    Thanks

I would install the categories dressing module:

    Thanks,

    Anne

You do not have your categories set up the way you say you do. All of the visible categories are really top categories, in spite of your added spaces in front of the ones you want to be subcats. Thus there is no way to distinguish them. You do need to put the categories in a real hierarchy (top and subs) and install an expanded categories mod, such as Categories Dressing with its chcategories option. Then you will be able to style the links as you like.

One caveat: you cannot have a top "all" category with products as well as subcats directly in it. That will cause problems with subcat display, and possibly with searches and other things.
