You are not doing this experimentation on a live site are you?
You must have a duplicate site where you can practise this sort of experimentation without the stress, then you'll know as well as anyone how it works, much quicker than asking questions piece-meal.

As well install and use Dr Byte's Backup Mysql plugin on your duplicate site.
You can experiment and undo mistakes very quickly using this.

It doesn't really matter which set you keep. I would probably keep the first one that shows up in the list. Do your products have more than one kind of attribute? If so, it will be cleaner to do the deleting first.

And playing with a duplicate site will definitely help you understand the process without stress.

    Hi guys:

I have been out for awhile due to medical problems. Yes, as you have all guessed, this is a live site and causing me major stress. I will download the pulgin from Dr. Byte and go from there. Thanks for your understanding. Man, what a trip. I'm sure I'm still gonna need your help.

    You are the best!

    OK,

I am attempting to install Dr. Bytes duplicate site but I certainly don't want to make another mistake. I have downloaded it. I understand that the includes folder goes to the includes folder on my site but where does the backup_msql file go?

Sorry, I am just really gunshy now. I hope you understand.

    Thank you,

    Silver

Okay, so the sql file doesn't have to go anywhere specific, you can actually upload it via the install sql patches if I remember correctly. (I think I have restored a site that way). (Edited) if you can wait a couple of minutes, I'll look to see if I can tell where the file is normally generated.

Another tool that might help with this is some version of easy populate. It may not take care of the deletion part, but if you properly map all of your attributes, you can then delete the attribute(s) that are just completely wrong without concern. It is unfortunately another tool to have to become familiar with, but I would think the time savings in the end would be tremendous if you have a large number of products.

    Folder is admin/backups.

    mc12345678:

Thank you for the reply. I am not familiar with easy populate, although I want to become. I'm still not sure where the backup_msqlfile goes. I suppose it goes into the renamed admin?

It would be nice if someone could tell me where to go on this page as far as what to delete is concerned. Click image for larger version.

Name:	Product Options ID.jpg
Views:	73
Size:	60.3 KB
ID:	13347

    There are three "Delete" boxes:

    1. Delete All Option Values for Product Name
    2. Delete All Option Values to One products for Option Name.
    3. Delete One Option Values to ONE Category of Products for Option Name.

In the all three the drop down list that says Select Option Name is cluttered with all my duplicates so I don't know which to choose.
I don't know whether to select a product or category.

Thanks again for your help here. I am afraid to just stumble through.

The readme says to "upload all files from the admin folder of this zip to your server", which means that everything inside the /admin_Zen_Cart_1.5.0_install/ folder should go into your renamed /admin/ folder on the server.
Note that the regular /includes/ folder is the wrong location!

The backup operation may put a file in /your_admin/backups/, but that is not the place for you to upload the backup_mysql.php file.
