It looks like the only payment option you have now is Google Checkout, so I don't even see a Checkout button when I'm in the shopping cart. How did you test for SSL in the checkout process ?

I'mj trying to enable a payment module using Braintree (created by Numinix). It's enabled, but does not show up as a payment option. We're trying to replace the Google Checkout. And I guess I didn't mean at checkout....I meant in the shopping cart. Clearly I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what.
I thought that I had posted on this kind of subject on the next thread, but my message hasn't yet appeared. I've also just been reading a closed thread about applying an SSL to a url with www. or to a naked url (one without www.): this thread touched on one aspect of my problem in that I have both kinds of url in my Website www.reallyreallyround.com. Howerver, amomandherblog, is asking the same sort of question that I had been putting to my host, Crazy Domains (CD).
When I first installed Zen Cart (ZC), it was from within my CD Webhosting area/cPanel. I then bought a copy of GKH's "e-Start; I then linked up to PayPal; I then got CD to provided an SSL. There was no sign of the https://, but when I typed this in front of the url it stayed there as long as I kept to the HTML/www. pages. If I moved to the .php/ZC pages it reverted to http:// and stayed that way even if I returned to the HTML/www. pages. If when on a Zen Cart page , I could still type in the https://, but this was immediately lost on moving to any other page. [Post SSL, I also had the problem that Customer Login would not work and I was locked out of my Zen Cart Admin area!]
Subsequently, I reinstalled Zen Cart manually (i.e. just downloading the Zip and using FileZilla),. but was horrified to find that none of my problems had gone. Unconnectedly I assume, I then had a problem with some McAfee-like program preventing my PC shutting down. By 4AM a McAfee technician had helped me mostly solve that one and the next day I found that I could access my ZC Admin and the Customer Login was working!?!
I have now editted the configuration.php files of my re-installed ZC to enable SSL, but I still have amomandherblog's problems: they have not gone. If CD's SSL could be applied to either a www. or naked url AND at the same time then how should I edit the configuration.php file?
My shop is not yet stocked and I'm still reparing some links.

Typo in my last comment: I editted the configure.php files (not the configuration.php files).
I havenow succeeded in getting the "https" into my ZC URLs so I though that I would proceed with installing PayPal, but I found that I don't have the "https" in front of the IPN Preferences URL (....../ipn_main_handler.php) or the Automatic Return URL (............/index/php?main_page=checkout_process).
Is there any other ediiting that I can do to get the SSL to apply?
