404 error on checkout with cloned site

Hi,
I am trying to create a test site for my Zen Cart store in a separate directory on my server. All the files have been moved, the configure files adjusted, and it works beautifully until I try and checkout. When I hit the button to "confirm my order", I get a 404 page not found error.
the cloned site is

artofsoundmusic.com/NEW

The database and files are identical to my live site, which works fine.
I have tried -
1) Re uploading the files to make sure they match
2) checking the configure files (both the one in admin/includes and in the includes folder)
3) running the fix_cache_key utility.
4) turning off the SSL in the configure files

I am stumped - any ideas of where to look next?

What payment method are you using?

Result is the same whether using Paypal, PO, Credit Card or check!

The next steps after the checkout_confirmation page are checkout_process and then (if all's OK) checkout_success. If you're getting a 404 with all payment methods, then there's some issue with one or both of those pages. What is the main_page= value in your browser's address bar when the 404 is issued?

my checkout page looks like this -

the value when the 404 comes up is

main_page=fec_confirmation&fecaction=process&zenid=97365c5a8163f952da7f6 23a75cd0d89

So the problem is perhaps with the checkout_process file?

Nope, the problem is with the fec_confirmation files ... part of the Fast and Easy Checkout plugin.
