Send PDF invoice when updating order status in admin area

Hi guys, is there a way to send the customer invoice via email in the admin area when updating the customers order status?

It is required that 'tax invoice' appears on the invoice so we have had to change the admin/invoice.php to show this. This means that the invoice available to the customer to view in their account is not sufficient as 'tax invoice' is not present.

We can't send the invoice with all orders as we drop ship most items.

We are using the dropshipping PO with PDF packing list addon so the customer receives a packing slip with the order, but we also need to email the invoice which shows 'tax invoice' directly to the customer.

Is there a way to do this that is as quick as using the dropshipping addon?

The RL-invoice addon can do this by default. You could copy the part of the code used for sending the pdf's by mail when the order status reached a certain level.

Hi Design75, thanks for your reply. That looks exactly what we need.

However, we have installed it on a 'test site' and it seems to work fine, but 'pdf invoice 3' does not appear in the Admin > Configuration menu as expected. We are therefore unable to edit the settings.

Are you familiar with this addon? Many thanks

Found a solution to the problem.

Looked at the screenshot, shown in the installation instructions, of the Admin > Configuration > PDF Invoice 3 (RL-invoice) layout.

Used the Developers Tool Kit in the Admin area to find some text on the screenshot, which lead to /includes/classes/class.rl_invoice3.php.

Searched for 'RL_INVOICE3_MARGIN', using the Developers Tool Kit again, which gave this option: Search database configuration tables for: RL_INVOICE3_MARGIN.

This lead to 'Lookup CONSTANT Definitions', clicked on edit and the PDF Invoice3 configuration settings appeared, which I am now able to edit.

Not sure why I have had to do it this way, but at least I now have access to the configuration settings if I need to edit again.

I have found lots of threads from those requiring pdf invoices and I am surprised that this addon is not mentioned. It appears to be a great addon which would meet the needs of many others. With a few minor changes, made by someone with the right knowledge, it could be really great!

The main problem for us is that it has wiped out the Edit Orders addon.

Has anyone managed to use the RL-invoice and the Edit Order addon together?
