I have created three Zen Cart applications on GoDaddy hosted service. Each generated Zen Cart application has a 301 Redirect Permanent. Other GoDaddy generated applications such as Word Press check out OK without 301 Redirect. Has anyone seen this behavor in Zen Cart applications?
How did you install the Zen Carts? What (sub)folders are they installed in, and where do the redirects point?
Zen Cart does not have anything to do with 301 redirects unless someone has done something out of the ordinary to require them, and then someone would need to deliberately set up the 301 - ZC will not do that by itself.
An automated installer might put Zen Cart in a subfolder of the web root, and then create a 301 redirect so all traffic goes there. That would be sloppy practice without a compelling reason for it.
My Zen Cart applications are GoDaddy automatic installs and they are installed in subfolders. I did it that way to put my Word Press in the root and the shopping cart in the sub directory to use only one domain for both applications.
So your blog is more important than your store? Do you have three different stores under a main blog site? What are the redirects from and to? Specific details will be most useful; the generic description gives us nothing to go on.
Did some more testing. It appears that applications installed in sub-folders get redirected by default. After talking to GoDaddy it appears they do not know what is going on that was a waist of time talking to GoDaddy.
No my shop is not more imprtant than the website. I deleted the website and moved the shop to the root folder. That fixed the problem. Thanks for you clues.
