Default High server CPU time after upgrade

I upgraded from version 1.3.8a to 1.5.1 earlier this month. When looking at my web-host's CPU usage time I can see that after the upgrade the CPU usage time has almost doubled in average (see attached image). Is version 1.5.1 really that much more heavy on the CPU time than 1.3.8a?? Or are there any setting I need to set to optimize/lower the CPU time?

While I also find that information interesting, I wonder with regards to the older version and it's highly likely security problems as compared to the newer version which reduces those known issues if there is an equivalent increase in attempts to the site thus causing more CPU time to "defend" what used to be allowed...

Ie, are there other values against which you can provide more of a comparison other than CPU time? Such as visits, or number ofpages, etc...

Of course I am also considering that everything was updated, there are no errant files causing the system confusion,etc... I haven't seen others compare/provide CPU time, so I can not speak to that actual perspective.

Here is the server stats attached. Visits and KB has actually gone down a little, but pages and hits seems to have been going up a bit; but is this really enough to almost double the CPU time??
Plugins installed are mainly the same in both versions with the exception of the "CEON URL's" module which was not installed in version 1.3.8a. I know the CEON URL module re-writes the URL's but can this really put this extra load on the CPU time??

Nobody has any clue to why the CPU time is high after upgrading to 1.5.1?

One question that jumps to mind is just who is using the CPU? Is this an indication of just your usage or has the host added someone to your shared server?

mc12345678 - Can you diagram this sentence please?

Did you add any plugins to your new v1.51 install that we should consider?

Myself and several others on this forum are convinced that messing with ZCs way of creating URLs is pure folly. Even Conor agreed with me that the world would be a lot better with ZCs URLs left alone. For every successful change to the system, there are hundreds that did nothing but create perpetual headaches for the user.

However, Conor knew that (no matter what) people were going to "mess" with what was working. That's why he devoted some of his precious time to creating the mod.

That said, let's think about what is happening. We take a server-side programmed site and ask it to do one more thing. Every time it presents any page to a customer, we want it to take the time to "rebuild" the link in order to "make it pretty," "easier to remember," and all the other excuses behind changing something that works. Therefore, you are asking your server to work harder every time you display a page. It must create the ZC-generated URL then munge that URL into something else. To my way of thinking, that's double the work.

The only way I see of determining if Conor's module is the culprit is to turn it off for a period of time.

Also.... There is no such thing in ZC as "the same mods in both versions." Especially, when going from 1.3 to 1.5. Most of them just won't work.

Please take the time to answer as many of the posting tip questions as you can. It really helps us help you.

Thanks for the input, I know there are many opinions about url-rewriting. As I understand it then it does nothing for SEO but might increase the click-through rate since its easier for humans to recognize words in the url. Its also very helpful when sending links in emails. However the reason for installing it is not really relevant in regards to this problem. What it does is however very relevant.

Regarding installed modules. The same modules as were installed in version 1.3.8 are now installed in 1.5.1 (except the CEON URL module), however the updated version of the modules obviously.

I will consider turning off the CEON URL module to see if it makes a difference.
