How can I generate a report to total all sales for 2013 in dollar amounts.

Search the Plugins area for report for several possibilities.

thank you. I downloaded a plug in that I need, but how do use that plug in with my zen cart? I don't see that plug in showing up in my admin area.

Did you upload the files to the correct folders?
Did you run any SQL scripts that came with the module?
Did you read and follow the installation instructions?

I'm stuck on a part of the instruction that tell me to copy the contents of the folder into my "shop admin folder" which it says I should have renamed. Is this 'shop admin folder" to be found on my computer on in online in the admin area of zc?

Did you create your own store or did you have someone do it for you?
