Two sites same database how to access both admin area

Hi, I have created two different sites using exactly the same database.
What I want to achieve is to be able to access the two admin area, without having access conflicts for user and password.
It happens that I can login at the second site with the same user and password of the first site, but then when later I want to log in at the first site I am required to reset the password like if it was expired.
I think this have something to do with the folder that obviously changes, but I have really no clues on how to solve this problem.
Any help really appreciated.

Do both sites have the capability of SSL? Are the admin configure.php's both setup to access the admin using SSL? Does it only happen when you first logon to the one site, but doesn't when you first logon to the other? As a sidenote, when you are done with either site, do you logoff or just walk away or close the window?

Why would you need to logon to the other site if they both are accessing the same database anyways?

I need to access both because I need to use the developer tool kit and it does not search on both set of files.

When I log on the second site, it accept the user/password of the site accessed before.
I do not use the exit command, I just close the window (not the browser)

So, if you had a single store and changed the ssl setting for the admin section from flase to true, you would have to provide a new password as explained in several locations including the FAQ of this site. Having two "stores" both accessing the same database, when accessing the store from the non-ssl site, followed by accessing from the ssl enabled site, ZC interprets the second access as an "upgrade" to using ssl and therefore the password is to be changed.

My recommendation is to enable/setup ssl for both sites, but that could be easier said than done.

The reason for needing to access both adminn panels makes sense and is a good reason. Do remeber one thing advised by the ZC staff is to have only one window open to a store at a time. By "sharing" the database, only one store should be accessed at a time.

I do not think I will pay for another certificate or extend the one I have.
It is too expensive.
I will go back and forth changing password when needed.

Prego,

An alternative, and also suggested, is to maintain a "local" copy of your files, that way you can change what you want without affecting your live site. Then, once something works the way you want you can upload the file changes. Further, if you don't keep private data such as the customer lists etc on the local copy you wouldn't have to have a local ssl certificate and can still do the file searches that you have been doing on the live database.
