    Default (56) SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 104

I just got an error alert for a customer trying to check out...

    (56) SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 104

I have never, EVER seen something like this come through. I don't know why it's mentioning SSL, as I don't have any installed in my shop. I also only have digital downloads available (not sure if this helps anyone figure out what might be happening)

Please help me out, thank you!

    Two possibilities:
    a) You're using PayPal for payment handling and when it did secure SSL communications in the background to authorize a payment PayPal's servers had a problem. If the problem persists, contact PayPal support at www.paypal.com/mts (they were having some system problems today, but they say they've been fixed now)

    b) You or your hosting company has changed your php.ini and mistakenly turned off the OpenSSL extension incorrectly ... this according to what someone discovered here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...ing-on-the-ssl

Thanks as always! I meant to come back here and say that I received a speedy reply when I emailed my customer about it, as her order did go through. She said she tried the PayPal button once and nothing happened, then she did it again and it went through.

Lots of hiccups on the internet today it seems! ;-) Must be a weekend, lol!

    Hi All,

This is weird... I'm having this problem from the start. So my paypal express checkout never worked..

An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (56) SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 104
Can anyone please help, I'm due to launch the site tomorrow but this problem persisted since the very beginning.

Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Followed instruction to the details on how to enable paypal express checkout support in Admin area as per manual.

    2. Googling.

    3. Contacted PayPal to see if they have any service problem. They said they don't have any problem at this time.

    4. Contacted GoDaddy about the possibility that their CURL isn't SSL enabled, or Open SSL isn't enabled. They have checked everything, ran some tests and declared that everything is good from webhosting point of view.

    5. Ran ipncheck.php and curltester.php and they both shows good result.

    Anyone can assist me please?

    Thank you in advance.
