Product Listing Description formated different than Product Display

How do I get my product listing descriptions to look like product info descriptions? Is there a particular reason why the product listing descriptions are reformated [ removed slashes and all html references]. My descriptions are just plain text, aligned to the left, but in product listings they are centered.

Additionally, how do I increase the number of product displayed on the admin screen for categories/products. I would like at least 20 or more.

Yes. HTML is stripped from product listings because in some cases the product description can be continued on the product info page (the ...more info link) and interrupting HTML can cause problems. You could comment out zen_clean_HTML from includes/modules/product_listing.php to remove that function, but you should be able to style the description using the stylesheet.
