Products not adding to cart

Hi, My site was working perfectly and generating many sales.

A potential customer contacted me to say he could not add an item to the cart.

I have now tested the site and it appears that some items (randomly) will not add to cart.

In my category of engineers tools I clicked on the rubber mallet and clicked to add to cart then I got the "your shopping cart is empty" page. I then went back to the same product and clicked add to cart and it went into the cart just fine.

I have managed to replicate this problem 22 times so far on different products and it does not seem to matter if I am logged in as customer or not.

Once a product has been added to the cart it seems like other products can be added without fault, The problem seems to be adding that first item

Can someone out there please help with this.

If you turn off the SEO/rewrites are you able to repeat the problem?

No idea actually I do not use them ...

I would guess at looking in the Configuration menu to see if there is something for the settings on SEO/rewrites and see if it has a setting to turn them off ...

ok have found i can turn off the re writes in the ceon section of configuration I will test it for a while and see what happens.

Why do you think the problem may be seo rewrites

Bummer if it turns out to be that as I will lose all my page listings in google and have to resubmit

Usually when there are issues it tends to relate to that or possibly the template ...

To test the template being the issue, switch to the Classic Template and see if the problem stops ...

NOTE: you should test these issues separately to rule out which is causing the problem or if it is both ...
