    Default zenid and cookies

Hi, When new visitors come to my site and surf around, all page url's show the appended zenid, looks something like:

(proper page url)?zenid=c5c5810bfcf(and a bunch more numbers and letters)

Seems like it's related to cookies - if you close browser and don't clear cookies and then return to my site, the zenid's disappear. If I enable "Force cookie use" in Admin, any downsides to doing so? "Force cookie use" has popped up in previous threads as a possible solution.

Interestingly, when you visit my site for the first time and click on "Home" link (upper right) on the homepage and enter the site through that portal, the zenid's do not appear anywhere. All URL's are nice and clean.

Background info: I built my site on a subdomain - test dot - and once the site was ready to go, I renamed my site to the primary domain name (without the test dot). My zc uses CEON URI Mapping module. All pages on my site are SSL secure.

Is it possible to get rid of the zenid's? Many thanks for your help!

The zenid should only appear on the first page of your site that the visitor lands on. Please confirm if that's the case on your site.

Hi Steve, When visitors come to my site for the first time, and they surf around, the appended zenid appears on every page they visit. The zenid does not disappear after the first landing. Now if you close the browser and don't clear cookies, and then re-open the browser and return to the site, the zenid's no longer appear. This scenario happens when using Firefox, Chrome, and Explorer. Many thanks for your help.

This may be related to the chosen template or other plugins. Does the problem occur when using the classic green template?

Could you also post information advised by the posting tips that appear above when you respond to a message?

What's the URL? so we can see it for ourselves

It could be that the domain name isn't matching the cookie's domain name. That's a problem with your configure.php values or caused by special requirements needed by your server when using a subdomain.
