    Default Coupon Issue

    Hello All,

I have zen cart website that offers 100% discounts to staff members using an authorized coupon code. Everything works fine except that if the total is zero and they click to confirm the order, the next page gives a 500 server error message.

The order actually goes through and into queue but the user has no way of knowing that because their next page is the 500 server error.

Any suggestions on what could be the problem??

This is the first post about this issue. I have read just about every post in this forum and have found nothing about this.
I'm using ver 1.5.1 with no upgrades and I have no plug ins. I'm using the Lavender template and I've only customized the images and background colors.
The server ver is PHP 5.3.13 and the MySQL ver is 5.5.32
I installed the cart using the zc_install. No problems with the host or FTP or anything.
The cart was installed and has been working perfectly since Sept of 2013.
I recently added the staff discount and thought that the discount coupon would work as well.
As I stated in the first post, everything works fine except, when the user clicks the Confirm Order button.
If the total is $0.00, instead of returning the confirmation page I get the Internal Server error.
I'm not a super programmer but I do well with PHP and MySQL and I am sure that this fix is I a line of code somewhere.
If you can help with please reply

    Thanks

So far, I cannot reproduce this issue in v1.5.1 ...

Can you look in the directory:
    /logs

and see what debug logs are generated when you try to go through the checkout?

If you find any, post their content ...

What Payment module(s) do you have installed?

What Shipping module(s) do you have installed?

My payment module is Paypal Payments Standard and the shipping module is Frre Shipping.
I just tried again and the logs appear to be empty. I have error reporting turned on on the server and those logs are empty as well.
The message on the opage reads........

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

If you want I can email you a test log on so that you can actually see what I am trying to relay here.

If you would like, I can send you a log on to the site and let you see

You should really use the PayPal Express shipping module, as it works a lot better than PayPal Standard ...

I will try setting up a site with just those two Modules and see if I can break things ...

I've not been able to reproduce either, but only two things really come to mind.

File or folder permissions is the 1st thing I think of when I see 500 Server errors (either too restrictive or not restrictive enough).
However, I don't think that this would be the case here due to the fact that it is (apparently) only with order totals of zero. This may be a red herring though, so check the permissions anyway.

My other idea has already been covered by Ajeh......

"Are you using any kind of SEO/rewrites? If so, turn them off and see if that is the issue ..."

If neither of these ideas are applicable you will probably need to contact your host for help. Their log files will provide more specific information as to the exact cause. The '500 Server Error' is a generic error response designed to not leak information that could be used to compromise the server.

    Cheers
