Product Model Number change with attribute

Is there a way to change the product model number on the order confirmation depending on the attribute / attributes selected??

for posts back in 2007 asking for same which says SKU for attributes was due in v1.4... ?? i cant seem to see this feature.

What was initially described as "V1.4" has turned into V2.0, so this feature is not scheduled to be built in any time soon. I'm not sure whether Stock by Attributes in any of its variations does this, but that would be the best avenue to explore, and possibly build on.

Thinking in general terms about the issue, I could see a structure with a notifier hook just as the "add to cart" fires, which allows custom code to inspect the attribute values and adjust the order's model number appropriately. It would have to be custom code because there are innumerable ways the sku could vary with attribute values, and stock code could never handle them for every situation.

This would also require some tinkering with the model number field handling, with an orders_products table field for sku and a means to look that up instead of the base products table model field for use/display when the product has attributes.

could you not install stock by attributes and use the customid as your unique product model for each attribute,

I would advise you to read the support thread for SBA, or if that doesn't help, download and read the SBA readme documentation. Installing on a test site would be the surest way to see what it does. I expect a fresh ZC install with demo products activated would give you quick fodder for testing.

There are several versions of SBA; I would first look at the thread for the version started by kuroi, as I think some others may be buggy.

i have modified my version and it does email the model number but im almost positive potteryhouse version which does mention kurio in earlier versions does email / invoice / packing slip all use the custom id

as gjh42 says installing on test site would let you see what is does,

Btw, the potteryhouse version is the one that others are suggesting to use at this time as improvements are being made and it does seem to work well. I have tested it, but have not gone so far as to observe the results of a purchase.
