I looked around for other forums to post this in but this seems to be the best option (so apologies if I got it wrong!)
I have been running an OSCommerce site for the past year and found it increasingly difficult (as a newbie to PHP) to get any sensible answers from their forums when I ran into problems. So I took the plunge into Zencart (the only reason I didn't take up ZC previously is because the Admin console appeared to be far more than I wanted for my pretty basic system ... I am now deeply regretting not having take the ZC route from the start!)
On OSC I was frequently told that if I didn't understand the system I should be looking to hire someone who did. When I announced that I was opting for Zencart as an alternative I received loads of replies saying that I was making a big mistake and it wouldn't be long before I reverted back.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you coders out there who are far more experienced then I am and who have taken time out to address my (often stupid) questions and provide me with insight into the way Zencart works and assist me in developing a working site in the way I wish it to run.
Through your guidance, and the fact that ZC has so much more built into it than OSC ever has, I am making good progress and gaining a better understanding of how it all comes together. ZC, in my opinion, is far more powerful, easier to manipulate and has great (and priceless) support.
I still have many more hours of work to carry out before I am ready to import my OSC data but, with all the assistance I have had, I now feel very confident that when I go live with ZC it will be the best choice I ever made.
Thank you all
