Shipping cost not added to paypal express checkout!

I am having an issue with my shop.

If a customer adds an item into their shopping cart, clicks the shopping cart button, they are presented with "Estimate shipping" (USPS module), continue to cart, or paypal express checkout.

If they select the paypal express checkout, they are immediately taken to paypal, however, the shipping cost is not added :/

If they select go to cart, and then proceed through the 3 pages, the shipping is added and they are sent to paypal with the correct total showing.

This happens when customers ARE logged in and have an address on file. I need to figure out why it's not adding the shipping cost, and how I can prevent orders from going through without the shipping added.

Any help is appreciated!

Sorry, I found I can just disable the button on the initial shopping cart page, which I have done...

But still, shipping still should be added even with this shortcut, I am unsure as to why it's not.

I appreciate you pointing me to the other threads, but not a single one actually suggests a fix for the problem.

I believe one of the posters was trying hard to explain what was happening and his explanation was misunderstood, seemed like he was treated a bit unfairly, too.

The system, as it is, is not working correctly if you do not turn off the "add button to shopping cart" or w/e the actual title is...

Again, if the button is left on the shopping cart, regardless if the user is logged in or not, clicking that button (rather than the continue to checkout button) will take you to paypal every time with the total being that of the items in your cart, but not with the shipping.

It seems that shipping is ONLY added to the order total when the customer clicks on "Continue to checkout" and reaches page 2 (of 3) ... when they're on that page, the shipping/tax is added and they continue to step 3 to finalize the order, go to paypal and pay the correct amount.

So what purpose is there at all in having the button on the main shopping cart page? If the shipping / tax has not been added, they're not going to pay the right amount.

As another poster mentioned, if they DO click through to the next page, shipping is added as normal, then they return to the shopping cart, the paypal express button will transmit the correct price with shipping, but if they don't go that far and click the button the first time around, it's just the price of the items.

Bug, is about the only way I can describe it, too, not in zen cart necessarily, but definitely with the paypal express module.

It is my understanding that if you click the paypal button before shipping you go to paypal for approval.
You then come back to the cart and choose the shipping address and method (and therefore the freight cost) then you go to the confirmation page and complete the transaction which now has freight added to the total before final confirmation.

Even thought the customer might be logged in. If you go to paypal directly how do you expect paypal to work out the delivery cost and add this to the transaction at that point, considering the many possible freight possibilities that might exist.

If you want freight known when at paypal then disable the first paypal button go thru and choose freight, then when you go to paypal freight will be known and added.
