Default Option Value - Product Model

Is there any way to specify a different product model based on the option value the customer chooses. For example a different colored product would have a different model number.

Not at this point. It would require custom coding. This is one of the enhancements planned for a future version of Zen Cart (no timetable yet).

Actually, it is possible with the latest version of Stock by Attributes - search the Plugins section and you'll find it.

Good to know. I had thought there were issues with that, but it might have been another version...

I tried installing it, followed the instructions. And didn't work, so I wasted all afternoon after restore everything back. It might be just me, but I think there are still issues with it.

Does the mod have a support thread? If so, you should look in that for possible guidance, or ask if there is nothing relevant already posted.

Yes it does, and I skimmed through it. But just don't have the time spent all day troubleshooting.

Sorry to hear you had problems, especially with restoring, but you should keep in mind that a full backup before making ANY changes is an absolute must! That way, restoring takes about 2-3 minutes... I work with Zen Cart sites on a daily basis and have never skipped the backup process before installing any plugins.

As for SBA, I am 100% sure it works and it's free from the problems it had 2 years ago (back then it was incredibly unstable). I have quite a few clients using it, but one of the best examples where you can see SBA in action would be DQT (check my sig for link).

I'm sure you just didn't install it properly, that's all. You must have skipped a step or missed something during installation...

    Regards,
    Leonard

I did do a backup, it's just that the SQL database gave me a few errors when I was trying to restore it. So once it figured out what the problem was I had burned up a few hours. I might just wait for the newer version to come out with it built in. I have quite a few add-ons already, but thanks for letting me know that it's out there.
