Cannot use the Sql install patch or import direct to data base

Hi
Can someone tell me if it is possible to mend a corrupt data base.
When I need to import a sql patch either direct to data base or through my admin in always errors.
Every patch or update fails and gets similar error message as stated below.

this is the message I received

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"configWantButton"' at line 1
in:
[DELETE FROM admin_pages WHERE page_key = "configWantButton";]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

I tried the same patch on my other shops database via admin and it all worked fine.

Does this mean my database is corrupt in some way and can it be fixed,
Don't want to start from scratch as I have over 2000 products on the site plus customer details, pictures etc.

Im not very good with databases, so any help in simple terms would be helpful.

No, it doesn't mean database corruption.

Try changing the double quote " to a single quote' in both cases surrounding configWantButton.

The other thing is are you sure that that value is in your database to be deleted?
