Product Type-Document General cannot be added to cart in V1.5.3

Our current, v1.3.9h, catalog category which is comprised of Product Type-Document general does not seem to be functional after importing the database into the v1.5.3 install. These items cannot be "Added to cart" Clicking "Add to Cart" from the product page takes me to the Shopping Cart page which displays "Your Shopping Cart is Empty"

Product Type-Document Product in a different category "Add to Cart" seems to function as expected.

Is there a special trick or different setup that needs to be made so that this category or product type can be added to cart in v1.5.3?

By default, the Document - General product type cannot be added to the cart, but you can change that behavior by editing that product type using Catalog->Product Types.

So this is a change between the functionality of v1.3.9h and v1.5.3?

Not that I'm aware of; I checked back to Zen Cart v1.5.1 and the behavior is the same.

You would need to make sure that you have the Admin files updated to work like the Products General and need to update the /page files and perhaps the templates as well.

Even in v1.3.9h it was more than just the flip of the switch for the add to cart to be allowed as the data in the Admin is different and the templates are different ...

Sorry, but I don't understand what either of you are asking me to do.

I do not recall ever making changes in the way that category is setup.

I would think, at a minimum, you had to make change(s) to:
/includes/modules/pages/document_general_info/main_template_vars.php

Compare your v1.3.9h vs v1.5.3 for that file as well as the others in:
/includes/modules/pages/document_general_info

for any other changes ...
