    help question IE6 and IE7 SSL Pages - v1.3.8a

I working with a client who has 2 zencart installations on the same server.

One installation is 1.3.9f and the other is 1.3.8a.

With in the last couple of months IE6 and IE7 started giving this browser error on the SSL links only "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

It's only happening on the 1.3.8a version and not the 1.3.9f.

    IE8 is ok also.

Trying to figure out how to stop the issue.

    Thanks in Advance

IE6 and IE7, seriously? Are you getting a lot of hits from those ancient browsers?

That's what I said at first, Although looking through the analytics. IE7 has produced a substantial dollar volume over the last 2 months.

A number of things wrong here... Still having a site that is on 1.3.8, trying to make compatible with a browser that is not exactly supported anymore, etc...

It is possible that some of the issue is related to javascript if there is any used on the site, css commands may not be applicable/supported any longer, or almost any other combination of trying to continue operation with outdated (insecure) operating software, oh and the php version may be an issue as well... It really is time to bring at least the 1.3.8 site to 1.3.9, both to at least 1.5.1 would be suggested.

I agree, we are currently under development with zc 1.5.

In the meantime, trying to find a quick fix.

The server has been undergoing some PCI compliance tweaks.

    I'm thinking it's related.

Looking for an idea of what may have changed between 1.3.8 and 1.3.9 that would effect SSL.

    Thanks Again

Unless someone with more intimate knowledge of those two specific versions provides an answer, I would think the time to determine the difference as I'm about to suggest would be better spent on putting the 1.5 site together and online. Should be able to do that by the end of the weekend I would think and much sooner if have already begun the development.

Download a copy of each version and do a compare between the two. Likely to have a lot of file differences as well as some files that exist in one but not the other. Copies of the old code are available byfollowing the download link found on this site's main page.

Thanks again for everyone who commented on this. I like to update these posts with my findings.

Turns out it was not zencart related. I determined that by up loading a blank htm page to the root and then trying to hit it with https.

    The same issued occurred.

It turns out that the problem site's ssl certificate had been recently renewed with a SHA-256 ca-bundle.

Where the other site had the older style ca-bundle.

These bundles do not support "older operating systems such as Windows XP prior to Service Pack 3"

When the client updated IE6 and IE7 in conjunction with XP to SP3 the site displayed properly.

    Thanks Again
