Easy Populate Import Items Not Working

Anyone know why it would import items, but to the wrong master category ID's?

I do have a column in my CSV file specifying the category they go into, 'v_categories_name_1'

In the ep_debug_log.txt file all I see are tons of the same error: 'MySQLi error 1364: Field 'categories_description' doesn't have a default value
When executing:
INSERT INTO categories_description'

Please help! Thank you!

Not sure which version of Easy Populate you are using, but sounds like there are several things going on. Ideally these would/could be covered in the applicable thread for the plugin, but for some reason I guess a new thread was started here.

The first problem, I would say because of linked products. The category identified in the file is not necessarily going to be the master category. That's a separate field.

V_categories_name_1 is the name for the category that is defined in the first language of the system.m. It may or may not specifically relate back to the designated master category.

As for the other error message, it is pretty much as it reads, the database is receiving a "blank" category description and doesn't exactly know what to do with it because it doesn't have something specific to do with it when there is no information provided.

Neither of the later problems seem to specifically cause the first, but they may be inter-related.

Thank you for replying! I am using the newest Easy Populate Version: v1.5.x_v1.2.5.7d. The ones I have defined in the CSV under v_categories_name_1 are the subcategories where I would like the items to go.

I just don't understand why it would be saying something about inserting to the categories_description table when I am importing products only? I already have all the categories/subcategories created for where I want the products to be imported to.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I don't use/havent used that version, but basically is there a reason that you don't include that information while uploading? It seems to me thaat the version being used is trying to delete the information because the upload is trying to replace content that you didn't include with the default content. Sounds wrong to me for what you are attempting. Then again, you may be trying to do something the programm isn't currently designedto do.

I got it. You have to specify the master category with the subcategory (with a ^ in between), eg. Master^Sub

That's not the typical use/meaning of master category. Or well, it can be if a product isn't linked. Anyways glad you got it sorted.

if you keep having problems with easy pop, i can advice you to give apsona shopadmin a try..

ive tried to use easy pop in the past and had a lot of problems with it, in apsona admin you can easily specify which field needs to be imported to which field :)

speeds up the process and should be able to even import your old easy pop csv dump
