    help question Slow Admin help

    Hello everyone

I know that the slow admin subject has been treated in the past but I didn't find the answer to my problem in the given solutions.
All of my admin pages are suddenly very, very slow !
I have done everything suggested : Gzip comp, turned off all that was mentioned in various links, checked with my host, optimized and repair tables, clear caches... you name it (well, the only thing I didn't do was clearing the debug log) !!!
My site's speed is ok (for a shared environment : slow sometimes).
    Help, help, help...
    Thanks in advance to all

Couple of things come to mind, what is the setting for your cache in the configure.php files? do you have logging turned on in the configuration logging section? (Suggest no on that one).

    Any .htaccess redirect conflicts?

    Just a few ideas...

Hi and thank you for these suggestions.
My configure.php setting is to "none".
Here are my admin logging settings :

    Store Page Parse Time false
    Log Destination /home/green374/public_html/cache/page_parse_time.log
    Log Date Format %d/%m/%Y %H:%M:%S
Display The Page Parse Time false
    Store Database Queries false

Also and this may give you a hint : when I try to open the corresponding log destination cache folder (...public_html/cache) : it keeps on fetching but does not open (folder's size is about 100 mo+) !!??

Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Also, by copying the cache folder to another location : it seems to be containing mydebug files.
I have tried to clear the logging files using the admin tool and it spins forever as well.
Can I delete the cache folder that won't open ???

It is supposed to contain the debug files (when generated), and they should be reviewed (copy of is sufficient).

Yes can delete and recreate the cache folder.

Sorry to say this, but I can't remember if there is an .htaccess file normally in that directory. May need to compare with a backup or fresh copy.

Generally speaking the existence of files in the cache directory should have no effect on the code, but it seems that the system slows down when heavily populated in the versions at least pre 1.5.1.
