Setting reminders / popups

Hi, I just opened my site last week, so it is the latest version. I am trying to find out if there is a way to set up a reminder or pop up for people to register for the newsletter before they go? I get a decent amount of traffic, but very few registered. BTW, I am very new to this so if there is a way to do it I will need it in layman's terms. I don't know a lot of the tech stuff.

There's no mod I'm aware of that will add that function, which makes me as a visitor go somewhere else, if I have to click something to continue.

You could search the Plugins area for popup to make sure.

The answer to this is a very definitive "No".

The reason being is that the store has no way to tell when, where or how a person is leaving the site (if someone thinks there is a solution to this, I'm more than happy to be enlightened).

There are ways to make a such a popup appear when they click on a link in the site that will take them offsite, but any such links should be kept to a minimum (assuming they are used at all), because the last thing a store/site needs is an 'easy' way to take the customer away from your site and drive them to another.

ps. I have seem some sites that appear to use a timed javascript function that will create a popup if no activity is detected within a certain time period so this may be viable option.
