Attribute Question

I have an item that is using Attribute that item is the same thing with 6 different colors.

Lets say:
Item Red
Item Blue
Item Green
Item Purple
Item Yellow
Item White

When a certain color is out of stock how can I say that color is out of stock in the drop down choice. Also will it say out of stock instead of adding it to the cart?

I believe the add-on *Stock By Attributes* caters for this.
