Downloadables again

I know it was several times explained here, I learned a lot from it, thanks, however, probably last brick is missing and I did not find anything which would help me for this last brick, so another post.

I managed everything until the customer clicks for the file in his order information window. He can see button to download, but then he gets 404 Not found. I repeated the whole process of downloadable attributes with radio and dropdown, played with permissions in download and pub folders, reviewed extensions of downloadable files etc., but no success. Something is wrong there, but I cannot see it.









download is now 755, pub is 555.

OS FreeBSD 10.0, PHP 5.4.17, MySQL 5.5.33, Apache http, Zen Cart 1.3.9h.

Could you pls advise me?

There was no .htaccess in download folder, so I have created one with one single line containing
<FilesMatch ".*\.(zip|ZIP|gzip|pdf|PDF|mp3|MP3|swf|SWF|wma|WMA|wmv|WMV|wav|epub)$">
and with 644 permissions.

Thanks for the feedback. Makes sense! Just remember to update that if there are files that will have a different extension. Will say that ideally should avoid saving files with all capital letters as small case is the standard.
