Over the last few years several customers have told me of the problem they have creating an account on our site. It always turns out to be the same issue. If they don't check the box that refers to 'Same address for Shipping/Billing' on the 'Create an Account' page, they get a page full of red bars, each one describing an error to do with the character string being too short in their name, address, postal code, etc. No error message about the check box at all so they don't know where to look for and correct their error. Sometimes they redo their Account Creation several times before giving up. They know they have different Billing and Shipping addresses so they don't check the box.
If I get the opportunity to save them as a potential customer, I tell them to go through it again and check the box even if they have a different Shipping and Billing address, then tell me what the other Shipping or Billing address is, in the Comments section at Checkout. I've looked through the forum previously and have only ever seen one mention of a similar problem, posted by Old Man, some time ago.
In looking through the Admin drop down menus, I cannot see anywhere to add in a separate address for either Ship To or Bill To. To me it begs the question then, "Why have a check box at all if there's no other option but to have the same Ship To and Bill To?" but I don't see any place to remove the check box either.
I'm sure there's something I'm missing that's causing this recurring problem for my potential new customers. Some of them never come back. Most probably never even tell me of the problem they encountered, they just go somewhere else to shop for a similar product.
I've tried to attach a screen shot with this, to show you the error message but I get an 'Invalid File' message. I had saved the screen shot as a Word document so that obviously isn't correct. Please tell me the correct method of attaching a file that shows the error message. Thank you for any help to sort this out.
George
