application error Google: Duplicate Tag Titles and Meta Descriptions

I have two questions.... I have ton a ton of searching and found so many different possible fixes.

I have been working on cleaning up the HTML errors that Webmaster Tools is showing; Duplicate Tag Titles and Duplicate Tag Descriptions.

    1. Duplicate Tag Title Errors: It seems Gift Certificate FAQ and the corresponding pages inside the main Gift Certificate FAQ page are giving the duplicate tag title error. Here is a link to the page - http://www.cpsauthority.com/index.php?main_page=gv_faq. The first thing I did was went into admin->modules->order total and removed the Gift Certificates since I have no plans on offering them. Since these pages have been indexed, I was thinking using the NO FOLLOW, NO INDEX rule? If yes, where is the php file located so that I could insert this? If not, what would be the recommendation?

    2. Duplicate Meta Descriptions: This seems to be the biggest problem I am having. It seems that a product page and its product review page is using the same meta tags. How would I correct this? Here is an example: (Product Page) http://www.cpsauthority.com/index.ph...roducts_id=150 and here is the product page review for that product - http://www.cpsauthority.com/index.ph...roducts_id=150

If any additional info is needed please let me know. I'm about to pull my hair out, lol.

    Thanks!!

    G'day,

I discovered these issues and a few other similar ones the other day. I've asked lat9 to come up with a fix for my web site. There's a good chance the solution will be made generally available.

You've said that Google is complaining because they think the duplication is not intentional. Fair enough. They can dictate whatever rules they like.
But, if you were to be tasked with deciding what the "description" for the Reviews Page for a particular product should be, what would you say it should be? Is the product's description an inaccurate piece of SEO data for that? Or is merely adding "Reviews of" as a prefix gonna satisfy the almighty Google?

I've always found it odd that Google points out "duplicate descriptions" and "duplicate titles" and then they say they don't use them for ranking. It's fascinating how they're making the common users "fix the data" so that their knowledge-collector servers and their coffers are filled at your expense.
