My ZenCart not compatible on dreamhost php 5.4

We have just upgraded our Zen Cart store to vs 1.5.3 because dreamhost is updating to php 5.4.
The store was working fine in 1.5.3, but when dreamhost got changed to php 5.4 + CGI, our store was no longer visible. Just a blank screen.

When trying to access our Zen Cart store, we got this message:

Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /home/deltasoft/targetvet.com/store/includes/classes/db/mysql/query_factory.php on line 177

What can we do to correct this?

There are no ereg in Zen Cart v1.5.3 ...

Are you sure you have updated all files and template files to Zen Cart v1.5.3 on your server?

Are you able to get into your Admin at all?

Perhaps getting something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com this has the ability to compare your local files with the files on your server and is helpful in finding files that are incorrect ...

It is handy also in comparing things like a clean version of Zen Cart with your current files either on your computer or on your server to see if perhaps you missed some updates or files did not load correctly to your server etc.

What can we do to correct this?

All the ereg functions in query_factory.php were removed many versions ago. Yours is definitely not from ZC v1.5.3. So that tells me you've uploaded PHP files for an older version of Zen Cart. The solution would be to install the current version, instead of the older files.

You are right. After comparing the Zen Cart query_factory.php file that was in Zen Cart 1.5.3 folder and the ones on my website, I found that the file was from the original install of 1.3.8a.

Not sure why the files didn't get copied from Zen Cart to my website directory, but I did upload the whole folder to perform the upgrade. I chose upgrade database and when it was finished, there were a few steps that had not be executed. Could that have been why the files weren't copied?

If I had chosen Install instead of Upgrade Database, it warned that my database would be wiped out.

I will upload the new files directly via ftp to the website. Will let you know if it works.

Would strongly recommend rebuilding the site when upgrading from Zen Cart 1.3.8a to Zen Cart 1.5.3 (if you have not already followed this process).

NOTE: When uploading the new version (ZenCart 1.5.3), don't forget to remove any obsolete files present from previous Zen Cart version(s).

How do I "rebuild" the website.? Won't it wipe out my database?

My admin area says the website is Database Patch Level 1.5.3
