PayPal has VERY SPECIFIC requirements for using PayPal Express.. (which is what the second button is) The BIG ONE is this: you COONOT use any image for the PayPal Express function other than the image's APPROVED by PayPal or you could risk account suspension.
If you use PayPal Express Checkout, when your customers check out, they will be directed to a page that requires them to log into their PayPal account or create a new one. PayPal will collect billing and shipping information from them and when the customer is returned to your site after completing the payment. In the background Zen Cart WILL create a customer account for them. You can configure the settings in Zen Cart to further speed up the process (default shipping options etc). So YES it's SIMILAR to the "No Account" feature of COWOA, except as I recall the account created isn't a COWOA type of account but a regular Zen Cart customer account (login creds are forwarded to the customer). So if I'm not mistaken you cannot use the same e-mail address you used for previous PayPal express sales. (need someone to confirm this)
The Zen Cart "Checkout" button, when your customers check out, they will step through the check out steps and will provide billing and shipping info and eventually be directed to a page that allows them to log into their PayPal account or pay by credit card without having to sign up for a PayPal account.
Now if what you are REALLY after is a guest account type of check out, I suggest you look at COWOA AND leave PayPal Express as an option as well..
