    help question (6) Couldn't resolve host 'api-3t.paypal.com'

Users are getting this error on checkout:

An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (6) Couldn't resolve host 'api-3t.paypal.com'

I have applied the POODLE fix:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...yment-security

I sent this post to the web host:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...689#post493689

    Their reply:
"It looks like paypal is having some issues with DNS and resolving that subdomain (api-3t.paypal.com). They had a similar issue last week, actually (though at the time, it was a different address that we were contacted about). Unfortunately as it is not something on our end, it is not something we are able to deal with here."

Is it PayPal or the webhost?

    Thanks in advance!

Honestly, it seems to me it's the host. The stores I just checked are having no trouble, on various other hosts. So if the problem were strictly with PayPal then it would be fairly logical to expect everyone to be having the problem. DNS is a funny beast, but I'm not seeing thousands of stores reporting the same problem.
It's unfortunate that your host isn't willing to help, or to kickstart their DNS services.

That said, feel free to contact PayPal about it. Maybe they're aware of some aspect of it and might have a solution to offer to you to give to your hosting company.

Thank you for your quick reply!

The problem is gone today, after a week of errors. It's not clear if the host did something or if PayPal did (I have a support request out to them.) It's a bit of a mystery but I'm glad payment processing back up and running.
