Keith I had the same problem. You will need to upgrade your database from the ZC Installer. You might have to go backwards and add the zc installer to your site but it only take a few minutes.

    Check out store/docs/2.readme_how_to_upgrade.html Step 3

It will look like you are doing a fresh install but just slow down make any corrections needed hit next and scroll to the bottom of the page for the Upgrade, once you hit that bottom it will show you all the upgrades it needs to do , let it do them all. it is very quick.
When you log back into your site it will be in Maintenance mode, just go to your admin >Configuration > Website Maintenance and turn Down for Maintenance: ON/OFF to false.
And of course don't forget to change your admin name again and lock up the permissions on the configuration files.

    I hope that helps!

The database upgrade should not require any corrections and there is no need to change any code or folder name to do a database upgrade.
    The process is simply:
    1. enter yoursite.com/zc_install, click on continue
    2. agree to the terms
    3. scroll to the bottom of the page
    4. click on Database Upgrade
    5. scroll to the bottom
    6. enter the Database Security items
    7. click on Update Database Now

If you have properly installed your site (no auto scripts or file overwrites), Zen Cart will automatically include the proper settings for everything needed to update the database.

Yes, you will need to come out of Down for Maintenance when you are done.

    Anyway..... The instructions before
Ensure that you have uploaded the "/zen_new/zc_install" folder to your server. Using your browser, surf to /zc_install/index.php and choose "Database Upgrade" when prompted. (Don't select "Install", or you will overwrite your database.) (If "Upgrade" is not offered, then the installer was unable to connect to your database to confirm what version its structure is at. Check your configure.php settings.)
should have been done already in an upgrade.
    Granted the instructions

could be better. Hence my list of seven steps.

I've been struggling with a few steps here and there upgrading my website's zencart version from 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 Firstly, how do I move the demo database to being the live one? And how do I take my site off of down-for-maintenance? My demo/test folder is in a folder parallel to my live one. I have selected the "database upgrade", deleted the zc_install folder and renamed my admin folder. I need less ambiguous instructions that the readme provides from this point.

Could you be a little more specific about which steps that remain appear to be ambiguous, it would help.

As for the problem description, it sounds like there was an issue with following the upgrade procedure. Which site is it that is in maintenance mode that you want to take out of mantenance mode? The existing site? Or the new/test site?

Allaction Seems like you may be jumping around the steps rather than follow a particular plan. There's a great guide at http://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3-...d-of-upgrading. Try using that.

I followed the readme instructions in order. But even though I put a new database in a seperate folder with its own back up copy of the original site. When I selected "database upgrade", a message came across my original site that says the site is down for maintenance to the public. I can pull up the original site admin and the upgrade test admin, but not the front side of the test site.

Now what is ambiguous is how to turn off "down for maintenance" on the live site. Or maybe that will turn off when I go live with the new site? The instructions just say to turn it off and they dont say how to do that. The instructions then day "go live". Again, not how to do that. Maybe thats easy for a pro, but not for a novice, I was looking a bit more detailed specificity.

Also, I only have 2 mods made to my original zencart version. The rest of my mods are to the template, so Im not worroed about that. But do I need to go in and set up my zencart pages again? or will those stay the same when I get the new version live on the site?
