    Default Another blank admin issue

Just installed 1.5.4 on test server. Installation went ok, I can access the store but the admin page is blank and the log shows this:

[03-Jan-2015 15:17:35] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC in /home1/waterba1/public_html/zen-new/admin/includes/classes/class.admin.zcObserverLogEventListener.php on line 118

The test store can be found here: www.waterbabiesbikini.com/zen-new/
    the admin is: www.waterbabiesbikini.com/zen-new/admin

    Thanks for the help.

First of all, the admin directory path should never be publicly posted...

Second, if the install was obtained from the zen-cart website, the admin directory ought to be renamed away from admin otherwise the software should prevent accessing the site (instructions not followed for installation). Third, please respect the posting guidelines and identify/answer the questions. One such (and known issue already) is what version of PHP is being used on the system with the error?

Thanks for being concerned with security, it is a test bed therefore it is not much of concern. As for renaming the admin directory, this is a step performed after the install script is completed, which is suppose to allow access to the admin page prior to the renaming and it does not.

As for the versions, everything was checked and verified against the installation pre-req, but here they are:

    Apache v2.2.29
    PHP v5.4.24
    MySQL v5.5.40
    Perl v5.10.1

Well, unbridled access to the site through the admin panel could allow access to other information desired to remain private... Not saying easy, but if nothing else best practice.

As for the install allowing access to the admin panel before renaming... Not really.. A link is provided at the bottom of the installation, following the link the individual is advised that they need to rename the admin directory. In the case of this site? It appears that there is possibly a .htaccess file above/before the store that is affecting the ability to get to the admin directory. This is not a ZC caused problem, as ZC doesn't require a .htaccess file in the root of the store... I got a 500 error when I tried to reach the above admin directory. I usually go into the causes of a 500 error, but today suggest looking it up... I'm lazy at the moment.

With respect, the T_STATIC error will only appear if you're using PHP 5.2 or older.

Thank you DrByte, this was the issue at hand. I upgraded to PHP 5.3 and the admin panel came back. Took me 3 days to figure this out I have been pulling my hair out trying to debug.

mc12345678: Thank you for nothing, criticizing the poster about an unrelated issue, which inevitably led to an unanswered thread.
