Default Cloning the PayPal Express Checkout module - is it even an option?

    Hi!

I have the following dilemma :

I have two paypal accounts, for tax reasons. I use one of them for sales within the European Union (where I'm from as well... and when I sell to other EU customers I must charge 25% VAT), the other Paypal account is used for non-EU sales, because they are VAT free. It's simply ALOT easier to do the book keeping if the money is collected to separate accounts.

However, I have only the VAT-free paypal account connected to my Zen Cart store, through the "Paypal Express Checkout" payment module, and it works great. It's configured so only customers from outside EU can use it.

However, I would love to offer Paypal payments to customers within the European Union as well. I have cloned the money order module - several times - before, but I'm not so sure if I can clone a Paypal module in the same way? Is it even a good idea? Are there any other ways to achieve what I'm after?

Wanted to check before I do my trial and error adventure this time because I am a little bit shaky in this area to say the least :).

    Truly grateful for advice!

    Thank you

    Best regards

    Peter

IMHO it is a lot easier to set up your tax zones properly. If you do it the right way, you only need one pay-pall module.

Also, if you must keep the same setup of using two paypal accounts, and if it seems that cloning may not be very feasible it may be possible to add code into the existing single module to select the appropriate account information based on the other already available data; however, if talking paypal express, prior to submitting the associated information of address either payment or shipping, would have to wonder which account paypal express would need to try to access to support the follow-on operation(s). Ie, selecting paypal express from the shopping cart for a user not logged in... What then?

Leads back to Design75's suggestion, IMHO. Otherwise lose some of the express part of PayPal Express. Of course I could be wrong, but I thought in initial communication with PayPal that the store credentials were provided... :/

Would think that there could be some other indicator assigned/incorporated into the purchase information that may help with the accounting side of the process...

Nods in agreement. This way you keep everything uniform which improves the customer experience.
