Default How Is Everyone Handing Installment Payments?

I have a customer who was ready to buy an item, but had issues at the last minute and asked if we can accept payments. I will do whatever I can to make the customer happy, so I sent an invoice for 1/3 payment through PayPal.

I never thought to see if there was a module for this, but have heard mixed things about the Installment Plan Payment Module, but it looks as if it is no longer supported since the upgrade? I want the final sale to go through the Zencart Store. Maybe just use the COD module?

I would love to be able to send automated reminders when the next payments are due as well. Does such a module exist for ZenCart?

While it doesn't process through ZC I added a paypal button/link to provide routine payments as well as a way to cancel those payments. Edit orders or other similar modules could be used to log the "purchase"/payment. Regarding automatic reminders, there are a number of ways to address it, one I think is through mailbeez, but could also custom code emails to be sent out based on data in a table. Also possible to manually send an email based on those that have purchased a product through the ZC email system.

Is there another way that I can track an order through the store even though payment is made directly via PayPal invoices? I want to ensure each order is assigned an individual order number that is assigned via the store as always and does not disrupt the current numbering system in place.

You asked about maybe using COD. But the check/moneyorder module would probably be better. Change its description in the language file so that it presents itself as "Installments". Then the customer can checkout with that module, and you can collect payment any way you like.

So if they use that method, there is no payment due at the time of purchase? I need this customer to be able to check out without making a payment.

The check/moneyorder payment method is kind of a promise to "put the check in the mail" -- no actual payment is required at the time the order is created.

Direct answer is that yes money not collected, inventory is adjusted, payment to be provided by alternate means ("put the check in the mail"), they receive whatever notification you have setup to be sent/received, they can check the status of the order in their history, etc...

Right. The moneyorder module collects no payment online when the order is placed. The order is left in "Pending" status (ie: unpaid) until you update it to "Processing" (paid and awaiting shipment) in the admin, yourself.
