We tried in upgrade from 1.5.3 to 1.5.4 using advice from Dr. Bytes but could not master it and had to abandon the attempt.

We did discover that ZenCart 1.5.4 requires PHP 5.4 but Bluehost our hosting company was using 5.2. We got them to up this to 5.4 but then discovered all our other ZenCarts on that hosting plan no longer worked as they are not compatible with 5.4. The solution we were told was to put a new .htaccess and php.ini file in root of this which would allow it to use 5.4 but other ZenCarts would use 5.2.

Could not get the upgrade to work.

Taking on board above decided to have a complete install of V 1.5.4 for a new domain but on running zc_install got an error message stating CURL requires SSL support 60 => SS Certificate problem.

We have been operating around 35 ZenCarts for past 5 years over 3 different hosting accounts and have never had a certificate. Only yesterday was told by Bluehost that we did not need one as customers pay online via PayPal or Nochex so we never receive their payment card details and dont need a certificate.

Is there a solution to this without having to purchase a certificate for each of our sites ? If there isn't a solution don't regard the 1.5.4 version as an improvement but a backward step.
